I have been a busy bee! It has been 3 weeks since my last hair post. First things first…my apologies!! So much seems to be going on and my schedule is packed with work, yoga, and summer events. I am learning to balance all of this and promise that I will not continue on this trend!

Week 14
As you can see my hair is growing in much more nicely. I am lucky that it is growing in evenly. I have read on other’s blogs that sometimes your hair can grow in blotchy. Although my hair has been thin where you can see through it, it has not been growing out unevenly. Before week 14, you could still see the soft spot on my head. There was a darker spot in the middle of my head at that point, that I could see while I was bald and up until last week. Now the hair is thicker and covers that up! This was definitely a milestone. Now, I am beginning to feel like I can wear it out more comfortably and I think people may believe I just cut it that way. I have a little fish tail in the back even, and I am thinking about getting a hair trim, but have not yet.

Also, this week was the week that I started ’40 Days of Yoga’ or more technically called  ‘40 Days to Personal Resolution’. I will write more on the details of my experience in an individual post but here are some highlights about what ’40 Days’ is all about:

It is a program that is lead through a transformational book by Baron Baptiste. Baron is a well-known and respected yoga teacher. In 40 days the book covers a new way of living, being, and thinking through yoga and wellness. The program includes:
  • 6 days a week of yoga practice, 1 day a week of rest
  • 2x a day of meditation
  • Principles on cleansing your diet and being aware of what you are putting into your body
  • Journaling; answering excavation questions that help bring out beliefs, patterns, and awareness to yourself and who you are
  • 1x week group session

Once a week, I Skype into my group session in CANADA through Power Yoga Canada –PYC Oshawa! Yes you heard correctly, I said Canada…I will explain more in the single post on this topic. However the group session is a weekly meet, where all the members can get together and review the week’s experiences, challenges, successes, and more. There are laughter, tears, breakthrough, camaraderie, and more.  So far so good, and very very excited to be a part of this experience.

In this program, during week 4 there is a 3-day fruit cleanse the group has to go through. I decided to give it a try and start this week…so we shall see how this goes!

Week 15

Week 15, I went on a mini trip to Nevada! It was one of the hottest weekends of the year so far, and it seemed like no matter how much sunblock I put on I could not help from getting sunburnt. For me, that is no bueno. I applied and reapplied over and over, however I still managed to get pretty toasty. I was with a large group of people who were in the same 115 degree weather as me…even people who were whiter and lighter than me, and lucky for them the sunblock worked. For me that was unfortunately not the case. I am truly thinking that it may have been because of all the chemotherapy and radiation. My body appears to be much more sensitive to the sun. I have always been sensitive, but sunblock would do the trick and I would be set. After that weekend, I realize I should probably not put myself in any situation that is going to keep me out in the sunlight for multiple hours…at least not for a while.  You will notice in these picture my Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer pics!

Also, I did my second week of the 3-day fruit cleanse. I was able to get through it the first week with flying colors. It was surprisingly not that bad. The cleanse is comprised of all fruits, as much as you want plus vegetables that have a seed….which I learned are technically fruits. So, zucchini, bell peppers, avocados and tomatoes all fit within that category. I found the cleanse to be pretty easy with those adds, otherwise I think I would have a hard time. I have decided to do the 3 days cleanse each week for the entire 40 day program. We will see how I do!
